Nerolidol

Notes

Nerolidol, also known as peruviol and penetrol, is a naturally occurring sesquiterpene most commonly used in cosmetics and skincare products. Because of its high potential for trans thermal delivery (topical application), nerolidol is being researched as a fast acting medicine for pain and inflammation.

Taste and Aroma

A Sephora fragrance counter has nothing on nerolidol. What modern day fragrance manufacturers wish they came up with first, Nerolidol has in spades. Nerolidol is most commonly known for its floral, woodsy, rose and crisp apple aroma. Orchid, jasmine, ginger, lemongrass, neroli, ginkgo biloba, citronella, and tea tree are all primary sources of nerolidol.

Benefits

Systemic Anti-inflammation and Pain: Research has shown nerolidol to be an effective treatment for inflammation associated with severe asthma, inflammation from chronic arthritis, and people suffering from chronic pain and inflammation from fibromyalgia and CFS.

Sedative and Anti-anxiety: Nerolidol is the seemingly most effective terpene found in cannabis for relieving anxiety and producing a sedative feeling.

Anti-fungal and Anti-bacterial: Studies have found that nerolidol to be anti-fungal agent in preliminary animal testing. Additionally, nerolidol has been shown to make certain strains of bacteria more susceptible to antibiotics and can even help against malaria when combined with other treatments.

As always, medical decisions should be made under the advisement of a physician. Please consult with a physician regarding the effects of marijuana use.
