ocimene c4 terpene guide

Ocimene

Notes

Ocimene, also known as beta-ocimene, derives from the Greek word, ocimum, meaning basil. Fitting for this common terpene found in many Sativa strains, it’s known for its uplifting and pleasant scent.

Taste and Aroma

With an aroma that’s distinctly energizing, ocimene naturally occurs in sweet, woodsy plants, herbs, and fruits including basil, mint, tarragon, parsley, bay laurel, kumquats, mango, and bergamot.

Benefits

Natural Stimulant and Decongestant: Research suggests that ocimene is an effective and natural stimulant, contributing to uplifting and energizing cognitive effects, hence it being found in most traditional sativa strains. Ocimene is also used to clear nasal passages and expel mucus and phlegm, making it a safe and effective decongestant.

Anti-oxidant: Studies have shown ocimene to be effective in managing and preventing type 2 diabetes and hypertension because of its specific anti-oxidant qualities.

Anti-fungal: Ocimene has been used for centuries to fight molds and yeasts, which, in turn, can fight infections and also extend food storage. It has been used as a preservative in food and dairy storage for hundreds of years.

As always, medical decisions should be made under the advisement of a physician. Please consult with a physician regarding the effects of marijuana use.
